East Providence Security Camera Registry Program (SCRP)

The East Providence Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in keeping the city safe. Residents and businesses that own security systems are invited to be a part of the East Providence Security Camera Registry Program (SCRP). The new database will allow residents and businesses to voluntarily register the location of their video surveillance system.

Knowing where security cameras are located and having the ability to access the data can help the police solve cases more quickly. When a crime occurs, police will be able to identify the locations of nearby video cameras and enlist the assistance of the community to help officers collect video evidence and follow up on leads. Additionally, they will ensure our neighborhoods remain safe and minimize property crimes.

Owner information will be kept confidential. The department will only access security footage with the owners’ permission. It is important to note that the department will not have direct access to your surveillance system, but will ask system owners to share video footage that might be needed to help us solve crimes. Through the program, the East Providence Police Department will be able to directly contact the SCRP registrants in an area in which a crime occurred. The police would ask the SCRP registrants to check their video surveillance system for a specific date and time for video that may show activity involved with a crime, such as a getaway car or the direction that a person of interest was headed.

Residents and business owners willing to share their information can do so here by filling out the attached form below:
