CLASS DESCRIPTION

Performs responsible and varied clerical work including typing and computer use. The work requires the exercise of judgment in the application of prescribed procedures and methods in routine tax assessment matters. Depending upon the nature of the assignment, the work may be done under close or general supervision and may be checked by another clerk or by an immediate supervisor. Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

One-year experience in clerical work, which shall have involved typing and computer use and completion of high school, post high school training or education desirable; types with a high degree of accuracy and at a fair rate of speed; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the desired abilities, knowledges and skills.

EXAMINATION WEIGHT
100% ORAL

One point for each complete year of residency in the City of East Providence immediately prior to the closing date for filing applications up to a maximum of three (3) points toward the final score. The residency points shall be added only to the ratings of the candidates who receive at least a minimum passing score.

The Department of Human Resources reserves the right to verify residency when necessary to compute residency points.
