Part-Time Library Aide
19 hours per week

$12.50 per hour-no benefits

Performs work of a para-professional nature in the main library or branches, including public service, circulation and other in-house procedures. Assists the public in finding library materials, checks out and receives returned materials, collects fines, enters and deletes patron information on the computer. Assists the public in finding materials on shelves. Assists with inventory, shelving materials and reading shelves. Processes and maintains periodicals, sorts mail, checks computer reports for missing books and assists with other similar tasks when necessary. Hours of work include two (2) evenings per week and alternate Saturdays and some Sundays.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma and some clerical experience, previous library experience preferred or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the desired abilities, knowledge and skills. Must be able to perform physical tasks associated with library work such as lifting, carrying books, and shelving books at or above shoulder height, stooping or squatting to reach bottom shelves and standing for most of the work day. Ability to use a computer terminal is required.
